Kravitz in talks over Jewel studio

ROCKER Lenny Kravitz has been approached to run a recording studio in the $1 billion Jewel development in Surfers Paradise.

The developers have been in talks with Kravitz's Miami organisation to set up a studio that would record major international artists.

It would be at the top of one of the three towers in the six-star resort.

The boss of developer RDG, Steven Haggart, has just returned from a fact-finding visit to Miami with Mayor Tom Tate and Moncrieff MP Steve Ciobo.

Mr Haggart told a Griffith University Business School lunch yesterday he had been in talks with Kravitz and other music industry figures.

"Lenny Kravitz has one of his recording studios in Miami and he was one of the brands we have been talking to," Mr Haggart said.

"We also talked to people from the film industry and those who could come here to record."

Mr Haggart said a recording studio backed by a major artist and having film industry people working here would have massive benefits.

"They will bring an entourage with them. They will book out the more expensive suites in the hotel," he said.

"They will bring in many more tourism benefits because everybody wants to stay where the stars are staying."

He said he saw opportunities for the developers to partner with Miami film studios.

"There are major opportunities," he said. "We could see unplugged venues springing up around the recording artists who come to the Gold Coast to record an album.

"It is obvious why recording stars go to Miami at the moment. We want them to come here."

The $1 billion development is now set to go ahead.

Along with the six-star resort, the project will feature luxury apartments, restaurants, cafes, beach club, day spa, conference rooms and 12 "world class" food and beverage outlets.

En fait je viens de comprendre, après quelques recherches. La ville de Miami existe aussi en Australie, située dans la région du Queensland, à quelques kilomètres de Surfers Paradise et c'est de celle-ci dont il s'agit dans l'article.
