Petit récap des dernières news en ce début de période estivale... Lenny Kravitz accompagnera les Guns N' Roses dans les régions métropolitaines de Boston et de New York au mois de juillet, nous l’entendrons aussi tout l’été avec la chanson thème des JO, nous le retrouverons à l’écran dans une nouvelle série « Star ». et enfin petit point côté des musicos.

S'il y a bien une info musicale à retenir, c'est bien celle-ci ! Et oui du jamais vu ! Lenny fera l’ouverture de 4 concerts du groupe Guns N' Roses à Foxboro, Massachusetts les 19 et 20 juillet, et East Rutherford , New Jersey les 23 et 24 juillet. Il est le premier à souligner à quel point il est inhabituel pour lui d’être en première partie : «Je ne fais pas normalement des concerts comme ça, mais parfois, vous avez à faire des choses pour le plaisir, pour l'expérience. Je suis impatient de jouer avec eux en les célébrant de nouveau ensemble." (RollingStone). Kravitz a repris contact avec le groupe quand ces derniers ont organisé leur premier spectacle de retrouvailles à Los Angeles en avril dernier. Leur dernière prestation commune sur scène remonte au concert des Guns N' Roses en juin 1992 à Paris où Lenny faisait partie d’une poignée d’invités pour jouer « Always on the run ».  Slash et Lenny,  c’est une longue histoire qui dure depuis le lycée et c'est ensemble qu'ils écriront « Always on the run » quelques années plus tard et que Slash jouera sur « Fields of Joy », album Mama Said.  Nous avons hâte de voir ça ! Autre collaboration musicale pour Lenny : une participation à sa manière aux JO en représentant l’Amérique du nord au côté de Nneka (Afrique), Yuna (Asie), Diogo Nogueira (Amérique du Sud) et Corinne Bailey Rae (Europe) pour la chanson thème des JO 2016 à Rio. La chanson « The fire » est produite par Questlove et interprétée à l'origine par The Roots et John Legend en 2010.  La campagne officielle des JO 2016 dont le message principal est "Edifier un monde meilleur grâce au sport" est une série de 4 courts métrages (Ensemble, Respect, Souffle et Compter les étoiles) qui met en vedette les athlètes et artistes, venus du monde entier.  La voix-off est celle d'Uma Thurman pour la version en anglais, Juliette Binoche fait celle en français. On vous laisse découvrir le résultat final.

La carrière de Lenny au petit écran continue puisque Lenny étend son CV d'acteur avec sa participation dans « Star », la nouvelle série dramatique de FOX créée par Lee Daniels et Tom Donaghy. Ils nous proposent de suivre le parcours de trois chanteuses talentueuses qui mettent tout en oeuvre pour atteindre le succès. Lenny a été annoncé comme l'une des guest-star de la série de 13 épisodes pour la saison 1. Pas de date de lancement pour le moment mais la série devrait être diffusée pour la saison 2016/2017 à venir chez FOX. Affaire à suivre... en attendant, voici la bande-annonce ! (en anglais).

Enfin, y aurait-il du changement côté des musicos ? Vous l'aurez peut-être remarqué, Franklin Vanderbilt, batteur de Lenny sur les tournées Love Revolution et Black and White America est de retour depuis le début de la tournée Strut US 2015, pendant que Cindy Blackman Santana parcourt les routes avec Carlos pour la tournée actuelle du groupe Santana. Départ possible de Cindy ? Retour définitif de Franklin ? Affaire à suivre ...

Sum-up of the latest news at the start of the summer season...Lenny Kravitz will join the Guns N' Roses in the subways of Boston and New York in July, we will hear him with the Olympic Games 2016 song all summer long, we will see him on TV in the new Serie "Star" and finally a quick check-in on the band.

If there is a news to bear in mind, it's really much that's one! Never seen before! Lenny will open up 4 Guns N' Roses gigs in Foxboro, Massachusetts (07/19 and 07/20), and in East Rutherford, New Jersey (07/23 and 07/24). Lenny points out himself that it's quite unsual for him to be opening: "I don't normally do gigs like this. But sometimes you've got to do thing for the fun of it, for the experience. I am looking forward to playing with them and celebrating them coming back togther" (Rolling Stones). Kravitz got in touch with the band when the Guns N' Roses organized their 1st back togther show in Los Angeles in April. The last shared performance on stage is back to the Guns N' Roses concert in Paris in 1992 June, where Lenny was part of a hand of special guests for playing « Always on the run ». Slash and Lenny, it's a long story which lasts since their highschool time. It's together that they wrote "Always on the run" some years later, and that Slash played on "Fields of Joy", Mama Said album. We can't wait to see that! Another musical collaboration for Lenny: a participation in the Olympic Games Rio 2016 official song by representing North of America, together with Nneka (Africa), Yuna (Asia), Diogo Nogueira (South of America) and Corinne Bailey Rae (Europe). The song "The fire" is produced by Questlove and originaly interpreted by The Roots feat. John Legend in 2010. The official campaign Olympic Games Rio 2016 whose the main messsage is "Building a better world through sport" is a serie of 4 films (Together, Respect, Breath and Counting Stars) including participations of athletes and artists all around the world. Lenny's carreer on TV keeps going as he will extend his CV as actor with his participation in "Star", the new FOX drama serie created by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy. They offer to follow the path of 3 talented singers who are pulling out all the stops to ensure their success. Lenny was announced as one of the guest-stars of the season 1, total of 13 episodes. And finally, would we have some changes in the current Lenny's band? You might have noticed it yet, Franklin Vanderbilt, Lenny's drummer on "Love Revolution" and "Black and White America" tours, is back since the beginning of the US Strut tour 2015, while Cindy Blackman Santana is on the road with Carlos for the current tour of the Santana band. Potential leave of Cindy? Final return of Franklin? To be followed...
