A quand remonte ton premier souvenir de Lenny Kravitz ?

What was your first memory of Lenny Kravitz?

Bercy 2004, ma fille avait besoin d'un chauffeur pour aller à ce concert. Je connaissais Lenny Kravitz bien sûr, mais j'étais un peu passée à côté !! Pourtant placée très haut dans les gradins (la seule fois), j'ai eu un véritable choc musical et visuel. Le lendemain, j'ai acheté tous ses albums pour les écouter en boucle.

It was in Paris (Bercy 2004), my daughter was looking for a driver to go to the concert. Of course, I had heard about Lenny Kravitz, but I had missed his success!! Even if I was placed quite high on a tier (the only time), I had a real choc musically and visually. The next day, I bought all his albums to listen it in a loop.

Tu as une deuxième passion : le tricot. Peux-tu nous raconter comment t’est venue cette passion ?

You have a second passion : knitting, Can you tell us where this passion is coming from?

J'ai commencé à tricoter vers 8 ans pour les poupées (je voulais être styliste). Plus tard, j'ai beaucoup tricoté pour moi, puis pour mes 3 filles, même si elles disaient "la laine, ça gratte !". J'ai augmenté ma cadence tricot lorsque j'ai arrêté de fumer au changement de siècle, pour occuper mes mains. Ma passion est devenue professionnelle avec la création officielle de mon entreprise Knit'n'Roll en 2016, dont le logo a été superbement créé par Lionel Nolhac. Je conçois et vends les explications pour tricoter principalement des bonnets, mais aussi des coussins, avec en perspective d'autres projets tricot mode et maison. Je compte donc sur vous tous et toutes pour apprendre à tricoter

I started knitting for my dolls when I was about 8 years-old (wanted to be a fashion designer). As grown-up, I knitted a lot for myself but also for my 3 daughters, although they were telling me « Whool is itchy! I speeded up my cadence to keep my hands busy when I quitted smoking in 2000. My passion became an occupation with the official launch of my company, Knit’n’Roll in 2016. The logo has been successfully created by Lionel Nolhac. I design and sell the knitting instructions for hats, but also pillows. I am working on new projects for fashion and home knitting. I count on you to learn how to knit!

Nous l’avons compris tu as donc 2 passions Lenny et le tricot. Lenny porte tes créations sur scène ou dans les magazines. Comment s’est fait le lien avec Lenny ? Comment se passe votre collaboration ? Lui proposes-tu tes créations ou Lenny te passe-t-il des commandes de modèles particuliers ?

We got that you have two passions, Lenny and knitting. Lenny wears your models on stage or in the magazines. How did you build the relationship? How does your collaboration work ? Do you offer your creations or does he place order for specific ones?

Sur la 1ère tournée que j'ai suivie (2009 je crois -j'ai toujours eu un peu de mal avec les dates-), apparemment, Lenny avait oublié de mettre des bonnets dans sa valise. Il a aimé les miens et les a quasiment tous portés. C'est sur cette tournée que m'est venu à l'esprit le nom de Knit'n'Roll !! Par la suite, au fil des tournées, sa collection de bonnets Knit'n'Roll s'est agrandie. Lenny est un modèle très inspirant et tout lui va ! J'ai reçu une fois une commande de 4 bonnets par l'intermédiaire de Rodney Burns qui détient Church boutique à Los Angeles et qui s'occupe régulièrement du stylisme de Lenny. Quant à une vraie collaboration, oui, j'aimerais beaucoup !!

On the first tour I followed (in 2009 I believe, always have troubles with dates!) it seems that Lenny forgot to take some hats in his baguages. He loved mine and almost wore all of them. Actually, it’s on this tour that the name Knit’n’Roll came up ! Aftwards, along with the next tours, his personal collection of Knit’n’Roll was extended. Lenny is a very inspirational model and everything fits him ! I once received an order of 4 hats through Rodney Burns who owns the Church boutique in Los Angles and who regurlary takes care of Lenny’s fashion style. Regardless a real collaboration, I would love, indeed !!

 Pour terminer, aurais-tu une anecdote sur Lenny à nous raconter au sujet de tes bonnets ?

To wrap-up, would you have an anecdot about Lenny and his Knit’N’Roll hats that you could tell us?

L'anecdote sympa, c'est quand Lenny, backstage, à Nantes je crois, porte une casquette en laine qui ne vient pas de moi et me dit spontanément "mais tu sais je porte les tiens, hein ", gentiment comme pour me rassurer, alors que je n'ai fait aucune remarque. Une autre : rigoler toute seule devant mon écran, en train de regarder la vidéo d'un de ses concerts, pendant lequel il porte un de mes bonnets qu'il remonte sans cesse en arrière, et me dire " mince, je l'ai tricoté trop grand ! "

One cool story is when I met him in Nantes I believe. He was wearing a hat in whool which was not mine and he spontaneously said « But you know that I wear yours, right? ». Very nicely, to comfort me although I didn’t say anything. Another one : Was laughing at me in the front of the TV while I was watching a video from one of his concerts. He was constinuously putting it back and then I said to myself : « Damn, I knitted too large »
